You heard it folks! I am reviewing Jay-Z’s new album which leaked before it’s release date. American Rapper, Jay-Z’s eleventh studio album, The Blue Print 3, which was set to be released on September 11, 2009 (US) was leaked on the internet on August 31, 2009. Jay-Z replied to the leak, “It’s a preview. I’m excited for people to hear the album. I’m very proud of the work I’ve done, so enjoy it.” While most of the album’s recording took place in Hawaii to avoid leakage.
The Album is better than a few albums Jay-Z released before. Its more like the present stuff. Its like the music these days. Kanye has done work on most of the album, while Jay-Z himself is the Executive Producer like always. No I.D. also co-produced some songs with Kanye on the album. Timbaland also worked on 3 songs, while Swizz Beatz only produced one track. Jay-Z did songs with many singers/rappers on the album, like always. He also did a song with Alicia Keys, “Empire State of Mind”, which is produced by Al Shux.
Jay-Z runs through some hip hop history in the track ‘Every Day A Star is Born’, praising every rapper who stepped in the ring and made hits. The songs ‘Venus vs. Mars’ and ‘Hate’ have that vibe that sounds like a Kanye song, although it sounds alot better with Jay-Z spitting on the beat. Jay-Z claims that his favorite track on the album is ‘Empire State of Mind’, while I liked ‘Young Forever’ the most.
